Walking on the D-Day beaches

The experience

Walking is the simplest way to read the landscape: the coastal path, the blockhouses, the memorial and the remains of the landings follow one another without interruption. The Grand Tour follows the coast for the full length of the sector, the Petit Tour stays on the seafront. At Omaha Beach, the "walking in the sea (sea walking)" variant follows the coastline at the pace of the tide, on the sand flats, away from the roads.

Programme

1. Meet-up at the meeting point and route briefing.
2. Grand Tour: guided walk along the beach and the coastal paths.
3. Petit Tour: 2 h format, limited to the seafront.
4. Walking in the sea (sea walking): guided shoreline walk timed with the tide, on the sand flats at Omaha Beach.
5. Projection stops: period photographs and films inside the bunkers.
6. Mid-route refreshment break, then back to the meeting point.

What is included
